Senior police officers Jaffar Sait house home Income Tax raid
Chennai: Senior police officers in Chennai are being raided by officials in charge of tackling corruption.
The raids include the home of Jaffar Sait, who was the Intelligence Chief when the DMK was in power.
The raids are being carried out by the Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption (DVAC).

Tamil Nadu’s vigilance department Tuesday raided the houses of former state intelligence chief M.S. Jaffer Sait, a bureaucrat’s son and others in a graft case.
Officials of the directorate of vigilance and anti-corruption (DVAC) raided the Chennai homes of Additional Director General of Police Jaffer Sait, senior Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer K. Rajamanickam’s son Durga Prasad, and others on a complaint of irregularities in allotment of land by the Tamil Nadu Housing Board (TNHB).
Durga Prasad had served as one of the secretaries to former Tamil Nadu chief minister M. Karunanidhi.
In a statement here, the DVAC said a case has been registered under the Prevention of Corruption Act against Sait and others based on a written complaint. It raided a total of nine premises.
The complaint alleged that Sait entered into a criminal conspiracy with others and got allotment of land from the TNHB here suppressing certain details.
Subsequently, Sait entered into an agreement with a private construction company for further development of the property.
Sait headed the state intelligence wing under the earlier state government and was later transferred to Mandapam refugee camp, near Rameswaram, around 600 km from here, as special officer.
